Playboy Indonesia thrown out of office after attack

The editors of Indonesian version Playboy magazine were chased away from office by the building owner Thursday, one day after Muslim protesters vandalized the office in South Jakarta.

PT Velvet Silver Media, the publisher of toned-down Playboy Indonesia, was accused of breaching contract agreement with the owner of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Aceh Fertilizer Building.

A lawyer representing the building's owner said Velvet Silver Media in the contract leased the building to run a production house.

"But they published Playboy. It was against the contract and that's why we ask them to leave," the lawyer, identified only as Poli, was quoted by the Detikcom news website as saying.

The eviction came after hundreds of the Islamic Defenders Front members stoned the building and destroyed the gate and glass windows.

Poli said Velvet Media has caused disturbance to other lessees in the building.

The Playboy publishing has sparked controversy and triggered protests in the world's most populous Muslim nation, although its inaugural edition last week contained no nudity.
