Senior CPC official meets Greek guests

The Communist Party of China (CPC) is ready to increase exchanges with the Communist Party of Greece (CPG) and other Greek political parties, a senior CPC official said Wednesday.

Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark in a meeting with a visiting CPG delegation led by General Secretary Aleka Papariga.

Luo said China and Greece have achieved great progress in the development of bilateral relations since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1972, and have witnessed frequent high-level visits and increasing cooperation in politics, economy, trade and culture.

With the establishment of the China-Greece all-round strategic partnership in January this year, Luo said bilateral relations have reached a new level of cooperation in various fields.

Speaking highly of the important role of party-to-party relations in promoting state-to-state relations, Luo expressed appreciation for the CPG's support to China on issues concerning Taiwan, Tibet and human rights.

Papariga said the CPG hopes to further enhance exchanges with the CPC, and discuss with the CPC about international situation and socialist construction, in an effort to increase mutual understanding and further development of party-to-party and state-to-state relations.

Papariga and her delegation arrived in Beijing Tuesday for an eight-day visit to China at the invitation of the CPC.
