Foot-and-mouth disease has stricken nearly 300 bulls, buffaloes, and pigs in Vietnam's central Quang Nam province, local newspaper Young People reported Friday.

The disease has hit 165 bulls and buffaloes, and 127 pigs in six districts, and Quang Nam has detoxified infected areas, the provincial People's Committee was quoted as saying.

On April 19, Vietnam's central highland province of Lam Dong announced an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in its Duc Trong district. By early this week, the disease had hit 2,550 pigs and bulls in seven out of 12 districts and towns in Lam Dong.
