France offers Zambia 350 million euros to combat HIV/AIDS
font size

French ambassador to Zambia Francis Saudubray urged Zambians to give up unhealthy sexual practices to prevent HIV/AIDS and offered 350 million euros (420 million U.S. dollars) to help this east African country combat the disease, Times of Zambia reported Saturday.

The ambassador was quoted as saying that fight against HIV/AIDS depends wholly on sexual behavioral change and not the amount of financial aid Zambia is receiving.

Zambia is one of those countries worst hit by HIV/AIDS pandemic. Official figures show that 16 percent of the country's 11 million people are living with the disease.
