Airlines operating flights smoothly in Nepal

Different airlines companies operated their services in a smooth manner on Friday, official at Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) said in Kathmandu Saturday.

"All the domestic and international air services from Tribhuvan International Airport, only one international airport of the country, were operated smoothly," Triratna Manandhar, General Manager of CAAN, a government organization, said in a press statement.

State-own Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation and private sector airlines companies including Cosmic Air, Buddha Air, Yeti Air, Sita Air, Agni Air and Gorkha Air operated more than 100 domestic flights from Kathmandu, Manandhar revealed.

The passengers in the domestic sector had to face much inconvenience since curfew passes were not provided during curfew hours on Friday.

Most of the passengers were compelled to come to the airport before 9 a.m. local time (0315 GMT) before the curfew order imposed in Kathmandu Valley, Manandhar noted, adding, "The passengers coming from outside the valley faced difficulty going to their respective destinations."

"Similarly, some 600 passengers who had come to Kathmandu by international flights of the RNAC, Qatar Air, Thai Air, Gulf Air, Jet Air, Druk Air etc. were taken to their respective destinations from the airport by shuttle bus, Sudan Subedi, media consultant at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a semi-government organization, told Xinhua.

A total of four shuttle buses were operated in ferrying the passengers to and from the airport, he added.
