Two flights taking a 53-member team of New Zealand troops and equipment left for Solomon Islands Sunday.

Commander, Major Andrew Brown, said the troops can expect to be on duty almost as soon as they land.

They will be working overnight and when Parliament reconvenes in the morning.

Sunday's deployment of 53 troops from the 3rd Land Force Group will bring the New Zealand contingent in the islands to 125.

New Zealand sent 25 soldiers and 30 police on Thursday.

Riots started on April 18 have been reined in two days later, but there are fears of unrest again in Honiara, capital of Solomon Island , for the new Parliament will meet on Monday for the swearing in of members and the election of a Speaker.

Additionally, Prime Minister Rini will face a vote of no confidence from Opposition MPs when Parliament opens on Monday.

Up to now, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea have all committed more troops and police to the Solomon Islands since the latest unrest, bringing the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) peacekeeping force to more than 640.
