Ollanta Humala and Alan Garcia will run in a second round for Peru's presidency, set for May 28, the country's National Electoral Process Office (ONPE) said on Monday.
None of Peru's three leading presidential candidates won the 50 percent plus one vote needed for a clear victory in the first round on April 9. The two candidates with the highest number of votes will compete in a runoff.
Out of the 98 percent of votes counted, Humala held 30.7 percent, followed by Garcia with 24.3 percent. Lourdes Flores of the right-wing National Unity Alliance was narrowly behind Garcia with 23.64 percent.
Humala said Flores and Garcia had colluded in a bid to prevent him reaching the second round. Up to 17 candidates took part in the April 9 election.
ONPE chief Raul Murga said that the two percent of the vote yet to be counted could not change the results.
