Chinese top political advisor Jia Qinglin has called for pragmatic ideas and innovation in the united front work and China's top advisory body to contribute to fulfilling the targets set by the country's 11th Five-Year Plan.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) made the directions during his inspection tours in Jiangxi and Jiangsu provinces.
Jia said to realize the goals set by China's 11th Five-Year Plan, cohesion and wisdom of all sides are needed in the work of the united front and the CPPCC.
The united front work departments and the CPPCC at all levels must take active part in proposing ideas regarding major issues in the economic and social development, foster the "honor and shame" concept to boost better social environment and improve social services, he said.
Jia also called on enhancing cross-Strait trade cooperation and exchanges and providing better investment environment for business people from Taiwan to facilitate the continuous and healthy growth of cross-Strait trade.
During his tour to major cities in the two provinces from April 18 - 26, Jia visited China's revolutionary bases with great contributions to the founding of the People's Republic of China. He listened to farmers with their suggestions on building new socialist countryside. Jia also visited major state-owned and private enterprises for their approaches of innovation.
