French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said Friday that the Iranian nuclear problem was " alarming" for the entire international community.
"It's an alarming situation for the entire international community," Douste-Blazy said.
"We continue to say to Iran, however, that the door to negotiations has not been closed," he said.
The report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) noted that Iran had failed to comply with the "reasonable demand" of the international community to suspend uranium enrichment, according to the French minister.
"It is up to the Iranian leaders to make the moves which will restore trust in the objectives of their nuclear program," the foreign minister said, adding: "We remain convinced that a diplomatic solution must be found to this crisis."
Paris is determined to preserve the "unity of the international community" as the United Nations mulled its next step, he said, warning that Teheran had "accelerated its enrichment program".
