China stresses safety during Labor Day vacation

The general office of the State Council issued a notice Sunday to stress safety during the upcoming Labor Day vacation from May 1 to 7.

According to the notification, government departments should pay great attention to safety work during the holiday. The safety of tourism, transportation, fire prevention should be guaranteed.

According to the notification, a thorough inspection of ships and cable cars should be carried out before hosting travelers. Tourism sites should control the total number of visitors and prevent accidents caused by crowds.

It also demanded that government departments should ensure safe production of coal mines, dangerous chemicals and combustible products. Prevention of forest fire and flood were also mentioned in the notification.

Tens of millions of Chinese will travel around the country during the holiday, which might see increasing accidents.
