U.S. President George W. Bush will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday and Iran will be an important topic in their talks, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said on Tuesday.
"Tomorrow he (Bush) will be welcoming Chancellor Merkel to the White House," McClellan said, adding that Bush looks forward to seeing Merkel back at the White House and talking about Iran's nuclear issue.
"Germany has been very involved in trying to find a diplomatic solution to the issue," McClellan said.
This will be the second meeting in four months between Bush and Merkel, and the United States has seemed determined to forge a stronger relationship with Germany under its new leader.
Bilateral relations have markedly improved since Merkel replaced Gerhard Schroeder as the German leader late last year.
