Chavez accuses U.S. of intimidating Venezuela
font size

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday accused the United States of trying to intimidate his government by conducting war games in the Caribbean close to Venezuela.

"But that will not intimidate us. We are not scared of anyone,"Chavez said in his weekly radio and television show Alo Presidente.

Chavez said, "We are ready to resist any aggression." He accused the U.S. of delaying sending spare parts needed by Venezuelan military plans.

Venezuela was now seeking the parts in other countries, including Russia, because the country was preparing for a "resistance war," the president said.

U.S.-Venezuela relations have deteriorated recently, with Chavez saying that the United States is planning an invasion of his country, while Washington says Chavez is destabilizing the region.
