font size

The Iranian government appreciates the support of the Malaysian government on the need toresolve the nuclear issue through diplomacy, an Iranian diplomat said in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

Iran believed that the only solution to the nuclear issue is through diplomatic means, Iranian Ambassador to Malaysia Mahdi Khundaghahadi said after he called on Malaysian Lower House Speaker Ramli Ngah Talib at the Parliament House here.

The Iranian government would carry on to achieve the legitimateright under the supervision and regulation by the International Atomic Energy Agency, Khundaghahadi was quoted as saying by Malaysia's national news agency Bernama.

Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and United States President George W. Bush last week agreed to give priority to resolving the nuclear issue in Iran through the diplomatic channels, Bernama said.

Badawi told Bush that he believed Iran was using nuclear power for peaceful means and Malaysia had no objections to that, it said.
