Indonesia has not yet decided whether to stop the legal process on former president Soeharto on corruption charges, and documents and legal basis are being collected to make a new policy on the case, Presidential Spokesman Andi Malaranggeng said here Thursday.

Malaranggeng said that president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono invited many parties from state high institutions, such as the House of Representatives, People's Consultatives Assembly, Supreme Court and ministers, for consultation in an effort to make a stance on the controversial case of Soeharto.

"The meeting Yesterday was conducted to get inputs or consultation with the leaders of state high institutions and ministers, about Soeharto and how to take stance on the leaders of the past," said Malaranggeng.

President Susilo asked miniters to collect the existing legal rules, such as decree, law, as a basis to determine the next policy on the case, said Malaranggeng.

He said, the Soeharto case include the aspect of law enforcement and humanity.

The Indonesian Attorney General's Office on Thursday revoked overseas travel ban on Soeharto and plans to issue a decree that halts legal proceedings in his corruption case.

Soeharto, 84, underwent a colon surgery earlier this week after being hospitalized for intestinal bleedings.

Indonesian doctors reportedly removed 24 cm of his intestines to stop the bleeding.

Soeharto ruled Indonesia for 32 years until being ousted in May 1998. He had since then withdrawn from the politics and lived quietly at his residence in Central Jakarta.
