The official website of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, scheduled for mid-June, is now in use.

Operated in Chinese, Russian and English, the website (www.scosummit2006.org) will cover events, speeches and documents from the upcoming SCO summit.

In addition, there are background information about the SCO and its development, and previous summits and related documents.

The website is produced by Xinhuanet under the Xinhua News Agency.

Dubbed a new model for regional cooperation, the SCO was founded in Shanghai on June 15, 2001, aiming to promote regional security and fight terrorism.

The SCO is made up of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the founding of the organization.
