Nepali Home Minister Krishna Sitaula will lead a dialogue team to hold talks with the anti- government guerrillas, local media reported Saturday.
"The Council of Ministers, or cabinet, meeting on Friday decided to form a three-member committee to initiate dialogue with the guerrillas," The Kathmandu Post, a English-language daily reported.
"Home Minister Krishna Sitaula will lead the team whereas the other members will be added after expansion of the cabinet on Sunday," the daily quoted a cabinet source as saying.
The cabinet meeting was held at the prime minister's official residence at Baluwatar in downtown Kathmandu on Friday afternoon.
According to the source, the cabinet also decided to form a separate committee comprising representatives of the seven-party opposition alliance and members of the House of Representatives to assist the dialogue team.
The committee will be responsible for advising the cabinet team on matters concerning the peace talks and for carrying out necessary homework for the dialogue, the source said.
Names of the committee members are yet to be finalized, the source added.
