font size

China is ready to enhance international cooperation in fighting corruption, a senior Chinese leader said here Saturday.

Wu Guanzheng, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said China is willing to enhance cooperation with other countries and regional and international organizations to combat corruption on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

Wu made the remarks when meeting with Greek Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos.

China attaches great importance to fighting corruption and has taken a series of measures to prevent corruption, said Wu, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

China and Greece established all-round strategic partnership in 2005, and China will work closely with Greece to push forward bilateral relations, said Wu.

On Saturday, Pavlopoulos and Chinese Supervision Minister Li Zhilun signed a memorandum of understanding. The two ministries vowed to step up cooperation in electronic governing, fighting corruption and personnel training.

According to Pavlopoulos, Greece, the host country of 2004 Olympic Games, will launch "Cultural Year of China" in 2007 for more cultural exchanges between the two countries. China will host "Cultural year of Greece" in 2008.
