The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) denied reports on Monday that it would join the Hamas-led government, saying that its stance regarding the government remains unchanged.
"We did not reach a settlement with Hamas during talks, so the PFLP will not join the government," Jamail Majdalawi, a member of the PFLP Politburo, was quoted by the Ramallah-based al-Ayyam daily as saying.
The movement has "in principle showed readiness to join the government one day after results of the parliamentary elections were declared," Majdalawi said, adding that joining the Hamas-led government "was subject to reaching mutual visions."
On Sunday night, Nasser al-Kafarna, a member of the PFLP Politburo, told reporters that the PFLP has officially decided to join the Hamas-led government and the Interior Ministry's Auxiliary Force.
Hamas, which is bent on Israel's destruction, defeated its arch rival Fatah movement in the January legislative polls. The Islamic group single-handedly formed a new government in late March after failing to bring in any coalition partner.
