Mexican police arrested 46 people who tried to travel illegally to the United States, police said on Monday.
The arrests were made late Sunday night in Tijuana in the northern Mexican state of Baja California. Two human-traffickers were also arrested.
Except for a Guatemalan and a Paraguayan, the other arrested were all Mexicans, including three minors.
The two traffickers had planned to charge 2,500 U.S. dollars from each of their fellow emigrants. For the Guatemalan and the Paraguayan, they demanded 5,000 and 10,000 dollars, respectively.
