Parreira will not punish players for visit to night club

Carlos Alberto Perreira, the head coach of Brazils national football team, said in a press conference Thursday June 1 that he will not punish the players who spent the night at a bar/night club in Lucerne, Switzerland, close to where the team is preparing itself for the World Cup finals in June in Germany.

"I have no comments concerning (the players) free time. People are free to do whatever they want," he said.

Swiss newspaper Blick reported seven players Ronaldo, Robinho, Adriano, Roberto Carlos, Dida, Julio Csar and Emerson spent Tuesday night at the Adagio bar and club. Six players left the place at 3:30 am Wednesday. Roberto Carlos remained at the club some more time.

The paper ran photos of the group, including one of Ronaldo showing his skills as a DJ. The players confirmed the visit to the club and played it down: "We had a free day and went to a bar. Its no big deal," said Ronaldo.

Meanwhile, Barcelonas midfielder Edmilson arrived on Thursday in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he will undergo a knee surgery. Parreira dismissed the player the day before due to the knee injury.

Sao Paulos midfielder Mineiro, who will replace Edmilson, is expected to join the Brazilian national team Friday May 2 in Weggis, Switzerland.

Mineiro played Wednesday night for Sao Paulo, which beat Fluminense in a Brazilian League match.
