Leukaemia patients increase 40,000 annually in China
font size

Near one million patients are waiting for hematopoietic stem cells transplantation in the Chinese mainland at present. However, there are only 360,000 copies of materials for reference in the hematopoietic stem cells database.

In order to encourage the donation of hematopoietic stem cells in China, and to rescue those patients, Wang Haijin, the secretary of the Red Cross Society of China, appeal for active aid and donation from all walks of life.

It is reported that leukaemia patients increase by 40,000 annually in China, half of them being children. Increasing the number of stem cells donators has become an urgent issue, since the fact that most children nowadays are the only child in their families leaves no choice except for relying on transplanting hematopoietic stem cells from non-kindred people.
