Two Egyptian policemen were shot dead on Friday morning by Israeli border guards on the Egyptian-Israeli borders, the official MENA news agency reported on Saturday.
An investigation has revealed that the two Egyptian policemen were killed on the Egyptian side of the borders, Egyptian security authorities were quoted as saying.
However, Israeli border guards had pulled the bodies of the two Egyptian policemen to the Israeli side in a cover-up action that aimed at supporting claims they were killed on the Israeli soil, said MENA.
The bodies of the two Egyptian non-commissioned officers, identified as Mohamed Badawi Mohamed Sadiq and Ayman al-Sayed Hamid, have been transferred to Mubarak Military hospital in Al- Arish.
Later on Friday, the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reported that two Egyptian policemen were killed and a third fled back to Egypt in a firefight with Israeli troops after crossing the border.
