Chinese, Ghanaian FMs vow to strengthen bilateral ties
font size

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with his Ghanaian counterpart Nana Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday.

The two foreign ministers agreed to make joint efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation.

Noting that Ghana is one of the earliest African countries south of the Sahara Desert to establish diplomatic ties with China, Li said bilateral relations between the two countries have been developing smoothly.

There have also been closer bilateral exchanges at all levels and cooperation in various fields, he added.

Li praised bilateral cooperation in telecommunications, infrastructure and human resources development, saying cooperation in these fields has been fruitful.

China attaches great importance to developing relations with Ghana and appreciates its position of sticking to the one-China policy, Li said.

Akufo-Addo echoed Li's views on bilateral ties. He said the Ghanaian government will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and support China's reunification.

The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in Africa, the reform of United Nations and other issues of common concern.

Akufo-Addo is in Beijing for an official visit to China from June 5 to 8 at the invitation of Li.
