A panel appointed by Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz decided that Israel will pay for the treatment of a 3-year-old Palestinian girl wounded in an earlier Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip, Israel's Ha'aretz daily said on Wednesday.

The girl, identified as Mariya Aman, along with other members of her family, was hurt when Israeli aircraft fired missiles at the vehicle of a wanted Islamic Jihad militant in Gaza two weeks ago.

The girl's brother, mother and grandmother were killed during the strike because her family was traveling in the adjacent car, according to an earlier report.

The girl was then sent to an Israeli hospital, where she has been completely paralyzed and on a respirator, said the report.

Physicians for Human Rights-Israel appealed to Peretz earlier about the girl's situation, warning that money transferred by the Palestinian government for the girl's treatment has almost been exhausted, and that Israeli authorities may send her back to Gaza.
