The reigning Champion San Antonio Spurs was out, the "King of King" of the regular season Detroit Pistons was out, it left us two brand new teams in the NBA Finales, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.
Both of the two teams are incredibly deep and versatile, and a lot of stars all over the floor, Shaq, Dwyane Wade, Gary Payton and Dirk Nowitzki.
For the Heats, who's going to guard Dirk? Two matchups in the regular season, Dallas pounded the Heat, I realize that Miami are playing much better now, but this is a difficult matchup for them. Who guard Dirk, maybe Antoine Walker, maybe James Posey, but as has been the case, in every matchup in these playoffs, Dirk Nowitzki caused nightmares. Miami Heat will have a difficult time trying to contain him and contain all those shooters that surround him.
From Miami's perspective, it's been an amazing run in the playoffs. In the regular season, they went 2-12 against the other division winners, 0-2 against Dallas, as I mentioned above, so really 2-14 against the best teams in the League. Well, through that all out of the window, because they are a different team now. They are now playing with confidence, they rolled through New Jersey, they rolled through Detroit after struggling with Chicago in the first round. So they've built with confidence, they are playing in a different level now. Meanwhile, with Wade and Shaq, they've got 2 of the 5 top players in the NBA.
If you're gonna ask me who will have a better chance of winning, I'll go with Heat.
