Ciyuan Temple, an ancient temple whose history dates back to thousands of years ago was successfully removed to its new site recently.

The removal project lasted for half a year, during which the temple was moved to the new site 1,200 meters away from its original location. The three buildings removed are now in perfect condition.

Built in Tang dynasty, Ciyuan Temple is a rare building group consists of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucian.

In 2004, the construction of the expressway from Linzhou to Anyang, which will go through the temple, kicked off. To protect the cultural relics, Henan provincial government decided to remove three of the most valuable buildings of Ciyuan Temple.
