England and Sweden both advanced to the last 16 of the World Cup today with a 2-2 tie. Here I'll give you a rating regarding the key players of the England squad in this play. (10 points possible)
Joe Cole: Midfield
Rating: 9
Outstanding performance for today, star player for the match. He's been dominant on the pitch and conceded a delicious dipping volley from 30 yards away.
Steven Gerrard: Midfield
Rating: 8
A truly world class player, made all the difference. His late header is the key to England.
Owen Hargreaves: Midfield
Rating: 7
His best ever game for England. Did a great job controlling the central midfield in the first half. Deserves much credit.
Frank Lampard: Midfield
Rating: 6
Started well but just couldn't keep up. Never be able to play together with Gerrard as a cohesive unit.
David Beckham: Midfield
Rating: 1
Beckham was not worth his spot in this game when you look at the other talent in the midfield. As the T&T coach said, he sold more shirts for England than anything else.
Michael Owen: Forward
Rating: 0
Rusty and sluggish, twisted his knee in the first minute. End for the tournament and maybe his career.
Wayne Rooney: Forward
Rating: 5
Some nice touches but still lacked sharpness. He was substituted at the beginning of the second half.
John Terry: Defense
Rating: 5
Average performance, didn't see much of his brightness as a Chelsea captain.
Peter Crouch: Forward
Rating: 6
He should have scored because he did have many chances for himself, but he got nil.
