Suspect Thai southern insurgents on Tuesday morning carried out a series of attacks in Yala and Narathiwat provinces, killing at least seven persons.
The gun-and-bomb attacks were all carried out at about 8 a.m. local time (0100 GMT), a military source told Xinhua.
In Yala's Raman district, a remote-control bomb were triggered while a motorcade was passing a bridge, killing five servicemen of local government and injuring a soldier.
Almost at the same time, in southern border province of Narathiwat, two residents were shot dead by two men on a motorcycle in Ra-ngae district.
Meanwhile, two bombs were separately exploded in Narathiwat's two villages. The casualties could not be immediately known.
