Thai police has arrested three major-league forger suspects and seized thousands of fake passports, passport pages, identification cards and visas for several countries.

Pol Maj-Gen Vinai Thongsong said the three suspects were nabbed at separate locations in Bangkok Monday. They found thousands of finished and unfinished fake documents at their apartment in Din Daeng area.

The fake IDs were for more than 20 countries including South Korea, Singapore, Germany and the United States. Police also found about 1,500 visas for Australia, Malta, Moldova, the European Union (EU), Canada, Japan and South Africa.

The three were charged with falsifying state documents and forging both local and foreign passports and identity cards for use in human trafficking. They planned to

sold the fake documents to organized-crime syndicates involved in human- trafficking, Pol Maj-Gen Vinai was quoted by Bangkok Post as saying Tuesday.

The suspects admitted that the gang charged about 4,000 baht ( 105 U.S. dollars) for producing a fake passport. They added forgery had become easy with the help of high-tech digital equipment.

Thailand has been a hotbed of identity document forgery due to its no-visa entry policy. With recent suppression efforts by police, many gangsters have been forced to move their operations to other countries, but police still failed to get their key figures, according to Pol Maj-Gen Chaktip Chaichinda, commander of the International Airport Immigration Division.
