U.S. soldier killed in western Iraq

A U.S. soldier died of wound sustained during military operation in the western Iraqi province of Anbar, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.

The soldier died as a result of "enemy action" while conducting military operation in Anbar on Monday, the military said in a statement.

Anbar includes such stronghold of insurgency as Ramadi, Fallujah and Qaim.

The latest death brought to about 2,520 the number of U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
