Senior militant escapes Israeli air strike
font size

A senior Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militant survived an Israeli air strike in Gaza City Thursday afternoon.

The man, known as Abu Ahmed, escaped unhurt but his wife was lightly wounded after an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at their car, medical sources said.

The attack came as the Israeli army continued ground and air operations throughout the Gaza Strip and the West Bank to press for release of an abducted Israeli soldier.

Israeli Defense Forces confirmed the air raid on a car in Gaza City targeting a senior Islamic Jihad militant, but the attack was not included in the ongoing Operation Summer Rains.
