The Group of Eight (G-8) nations urged Iran to give the swiftest response to the six-nation proposals concerning its nuclear program, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday in Moscow.
"We are expecting the soonest official and specific reply of Tehran to these proposals," Lavrov told reporters after a meeting of G-8 foreign ministers.
The ministers agreed that foreign ministers of the six countries would offer an evaluation of the situation around the Iranian nuclear program by mid-July.
"We expect the foreign ministers of Britain, Germany, China, Russia, the United States and France, and also the European Union's high representative for common foreign and security policy to come up with their assessment by mid-July," the ministers said in a statement after the meeting.
