Israeli planes pound Palestinian militant training camps in Gaza

Israeli army launched airstrikes targeting two Palestinian militant training camps in the Gaza Strip on Friday night, Palestinian witnesses said.

Israeli military aircraft fired two missiles at a training camp of the Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, an armed wing of the Palestinian ruling Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in the Zaitun neighborhood of Gaza City, said witnesses.

Moments ago, an Israeli warplane fired a missile at a training camp of the Abu Rish Brigades, an armed group affiliated with the Palestinian Fatah movement, in the southern Gaza Strip, said witnesses.

There were no reports of any casualties in either raid.

The fresh airstrikes came as a broad Israeli military ground offensive in the Gaza Strip entered a third day on Friday.

The operation, aimed to rescue an Israeli soldier kidnapped by Palestinian militants on Sunday, is the first of its kind since Israel pulled out forces and settlers from the entire Gaza Strip after 38 years of occupation.
