Beijing holds concert marking 85th birthday of Communist Party of China

A concert marking the 85th birthday of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held in Beijing on Saturday, with senior party leaders attending.

Musicians sang revolutionary songs and played red music, such as "Song of Spaceflight," "Carol to Red Stars" and "Song for Deng Xiaoping" at the concert, which was organized by the Chinese Musicians Association, the China National Symphony Orchestra and The Song and Dance Ensemble of the Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Jia Qinglin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, enjoyed the concert, together with other CPC leaders including Liu Yunshan and Li Jinai.

The concert was among an array of high-profile activities celebrating the birthday of the CPC, which was founded in Shanghai on July 1, 1921.
