Israeli helicopters renew airstrikes on southern Gaza Strip: sources

Israeli Apache attack helicopters renewed at predawn on Wednesday its airstrikes on targets in the Gaza Strip as Israeli army ground forces seized locations in northern Gaza Strip, witnesses and security sources reported.

The witnesses said that the helicopters fired about six air-to- ground rockets at a training camp belongs to al-Qassam Brigades, armed wing of the ruling Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), west of Rafah town in southern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli offensive was intensified after al-Qassam Brigades militants fired on Tuesday evening a medium-range homemade rocket that hit a school in the town of Ashkelon in southern Israel.

No injuries were reported, but damage was caused to the school building, an Israeli army spokesman told Israel Radio after the attack, adding that the rocket with 9 kilometers range was fired from northern Gaza Strip.
