Israeli security forces foiled on Wednesday "a large-scale terror attack" set to be launched in the center of the country after a would-be attacker was arrested, the Yedioth Ahronoth daily said.

With intelligence received by Israeli defense establishment regarding a plan to carry out an attack from Samaria to the center of Israel, security forces deployed in the West bank and roadblocks were positioned on highways. At the same time, suspicious vehicles were stopped for check.

Meanwhile, police deployed across the area, and high alert level was announced in Sharon region.

According to the report, Israeli defense establishment currently holds 19 specific alerts regarding plans to carry out attacks, most of them related to the Islamic Jihad (Holy War).

On Wednesday, Israeli troops nabbed 10 wanted Palestinian militants in the West Bank, who were believed to be operatives from Hamas and Fatah.

Violence in the Palestinian territories mounted following a deadly militant attack and the abduction of an Israeli soldier on June 25.
