Palestinian militants fired two more rockets on Israeli southern coastal city Ashkelon Wednesday evening, following the first suck attack on Tuesday, local newspaper Ha'aretz reported.
According to the report, one of the rockets slammed into a southern neighborhood of the city and the second landed in the Kibbutz Zikim area.
No casualties were caused in the two rocket attacks, the report said.
The first strike on Ashkelon Tuesday evening was the furthest north that a rocket fired from Gaza has reached, during which a local high school was lightly damaged but no injuries were left.
In the wake of the first strike on Ashkelon, Israeli security cabinet, convened by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, decided on Wednesday to expand an ongoing military operation in the Gaza Strip.
Members of Ashkelon's city council also convened earlier on Wednesday for a special discussion following the first rocket fire. They argued whether the city should operate the Red Dawn alert system like in Sderot.
A military investigation revealed that the rocket that landed in Ashkelon Tuesday evening had a double engine, which allowed it to fly as long a distance as 12 kms.
