Fan killed in Paris revelry following World Cup semifinal win

A fan was killed in a Paris subway accident amid nationwide revelry after France advanced to the World Cup final with a 1-0 win over Portugal on Wednesday, police said.

The victim had climbed atop a train at the Opera metro station, in central Paris beneath the famed Opera Garnier, and fell at around midnight. Police said circumstances of the accident remained unclear.
