Indonesia not to send tennis team to Israel: official
font size

The Indonesian government said Thursday it will not send the Fed Cup Women's Tennis team for world group matches in Israel in protest to military operations in the Palestinian territories.

"Yes we ban the team from traveling to Israel. The foreign minister also has announced a similar stance," Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Adhyaksa Dault told reporters here.

The government also concerns with security situation in Israel which becomes another reason for the cancellation, said the minister.

He said Indonesia would accept possible sanctions from the international tennis governing body.
