font size

Two men were seriously injured when a light aircraft crashed near the Fish River Bridge in East London of South Africa's Eastern Cape province on Saturday.

East London police disaster management co-ordinator Captain John Fobian said that the two had been airlifted to St Dominic's Hospital in East London.

"They're both in the emergency unit at the moment. They're both quite seriously injured," said Fobian.

A hospital official described the men's condition as "stable."

Fobian said the injured were believed to be a flight pupil and instructor, using a Jac light plane.
