Finland concerned over humanitarian situation in Gaza
font size

Finland, which is holding the rotating EU presidency, on Sunday expressed in a statement its concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The statement said that Israeli air strikes on Gaza's only power plant have contributed to the worsening of the humanitarian situation.

It urged Israel to ensure transfer of assistance for humanitarian needs and stressed the importance of opening up border crossings such as Rafah and Karni in order to allow humanitarian aid to be delivered.

The statement also called on all parties to do everything possible to ease the situation.
