Lippi to step down after World Cup win: Report
font size

Marcello Lippi plans to step down as Italy coach after leading his team to World Cup victory on Sunday, Italian newspapers reported on Monday.

Lippi, whose contract ends later this month, had declined to answer questions about his future at a news conference following Italy's victory over France in the final.

Newspapers including Corriere della Sera, Il Messaggero and La Repubblica all reported that Lippi had made public his intention to step down, however.

Lippi is expected to hold a news conference in Germany later on Monday.
