Gunmen on Tuesday ambushed a minibus in southern Baghdad on Tuesday morning, killing 10 people, an Iraqi Interior Ministry source said.
The gunmen intercepted a KIA minibus, which carried Shiite mourners heading to the southern holy Shiite city of Najaf for a funeral, on the highway in the Sunni-dominated Doura neighborhood of Baghdad and dragged the passengers out of the minibus and shoot them dead, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Tensions have been heightened in Baghdad since Sunday when more than 40 Sunnis were killed by Shiite militiamen in western Baghdad.
