Sun Wen dropped from China's squad for Asian women's soccer championship

China's star striker Sun Wen has been left out of the country's squad for next week's Asian women's soccer championship in Australia due to knee injuries.

The 20-player team gathered Monday at a training base in Xianghe, a town about 50 kilometers east of Beijing, for the final tune-up before leaving for Adelaide, Australia.

The seven-time Asian champions face Chinese Taipei on July 19, Vietnam on July 21 and Japan on July 23 in the group stage.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Han Wenxia, Zhang Yanru;

Defenders: Pu Wei, Li Jie, Liu Huana, Liu Yali, Yuan Fan, Wang Kun, Weng Xinzhi;

Midfielders: Ren Liping, Pan Lina, Bi Yan, Bai Lili, Zheng Qin, Zhang Tong, Wang Dandan, Shi Mengyu;

Forwards: Han Duan, Ma Xiaoxu, Guo Yue.
