Saab authorizes Shanghai GM agent

After nine months of negotiations, Shanghai GM and Saab reached an agreement on agent services. Shanghai GM General Manager Ding Lei and Saab's Managing Director Jan-Ake Jonsson singed a contract on the evening of July 6th, giving Shanghai GM the rights to Saab's brand, label, products, service, parts, after-sale service and sales in China.

Saab, a high-end brand of motor vehicle, reported that 70,846 units were sold in the first half of this year worldwide, up by 11 percent from the same period in 2005. However, sales of Saab in China have only amounted to several hundred units since the company entered the Chinese market in 2002.

Sun Xiaodong, Director of Shanghai GM's marketing department, said Saab aims to double the sale year-on-year in China.
