Liu Xiang breaks world record

Chinese Olympic champion Liu Xiang set a world record of 12.88 seconds in the men's 110 meters hurdles at a super grand prix meeting on Tuesday.

Liu erased 0.03 seconds off the previous record he shared with Britain's Colin Jackson.

"Switzerland is my lucky place," he said in reference to his first win at a grand prix meeting in 2002.

Ameircan Dominique Arnold finished second in 12.90 with compatriot Terrence Trammell third in 13.02.

Former double Olympic sprint champion Marion Jones produced her second sub-11 seconds 100 meters in three days with a 10.94 win.

She was followed by American teammates Me'Lisa Barber and Torri Edwards, who finished 11.03 and 11.07 respectively.

Kenya's Janeth Jepkosgei shook off a spirited challenge from three-time world champion Maria Mutola to win the 800 in one minute 56.66 seconds. Mozambique's Mutola was second in 1:56.77.

Leonard Scott led from the front to win a men's 100 in 10.05.

Olusoji Fasuba of Nigeria came in second in 10.09 and Michael Frater of Jamaica clocked 10.09 for third place.
