The Israeli military confirmed on Thursday that it began to impose naval blockade on Lebanon.
Israeli warships were sent into the Lebanese maritime space on Thursday morning to impose a sea blockade on Lebanon, an Israeli army source said.
Israeli army is imposing a comprehensive blockade on Lebanese air, sea and land in the wake of the Lebanese rocket firing and capture of two Israeli soldiers, the source said.
The blockade came in response to rockets firing since early Wednesday and capture of two Israeli soldiers by Hizbullah militia in border area in southern Lebanon.
"Israel plans to impose a closure on Lebanon from the sea, air and land, in order to press the government there to take responsibility over southern Lebanon, which is currently under Hizbullah control," Israeli Army Radio reported.
Israeli warplanes carried out a series of air raids overnight, destroying Beirut airport and Hizbullah's TV station in Beirut.
Altogether 27 Lebanese civilians were killed in the air raids, according to media reports.
