Israeli warplanes strike Lebanese military bases
font size

Israeli warplanes struck two Lebanese air force bases on Thursday, the pan-Arab television channel al-Jazeera reported.

Israeli warplanes bombed a Lebanese air force base at Riyaq, less than 5 km from the Syrian border, in eastern Lebanon and then struck another airbase at Klaiaat in northern Lebanon, said the report.

There was no immediate report of any casualties and the Lebanese army has made no comment so far.

Israel intensified reprisal attacks on Lebanon on Thursday after Lebanon's Hizbollah militia kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others during border clashes on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Israeli military planes pounded the runway of Beirut's international airport and the Israeli navy blockaded Lebanese sea ports.

About 50 Lebanese have been killed since Wednesday.
