Jordanian King Abdullah II on Thursday called for an end to the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
Abdullah said that Jordan rejected and condemned the "Israeli aggression targeting innocent civilians and the Lebanese infrastructure."
Abdullah made the remarks in a statement issued after a meeting with Sa'addin al-Hariri, the leader of Lebanon's largest parliamentary bloc.
Abdullah also pledged that he would continue exerting efforts and making contacts with Arab countries and influential international powers to help end the Israeli military operations against Lebanon.
The Jordanian king also stressed the importance of reaching a unified Arab stance to support Lebanon while underlying the necessity of national unity among the Lebanese people to overcome the difficulties.
Hariri, on his part, said that he would ask the Jordanian king to use his influence to help stop the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
"Aggression will not lead Israel to anywhere," he said, calling for dialogue.
Israel launched intense airstrikes on Lebanon and blockaded Lebanese sea ports on Thursday after Lebanon's Hizbollah militia kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others during cross-border clashes on Wednesday.
About 50 Lebanese have been killed so far and two Israeli women were killed in Hizbollah rocket attacks on northern Israel on Thursday.
