One Palestinian was killed and one was injured when an Israeli tank shell struck their car east of the central Gaza Strip town of Deir el-Ballah early on Friday, witnesses and medics said.
Israeli tanks and armored vehicles took position in the area to prevent Palestinian traffic from moving between south and north of the Gaza Strip.
Witnesses said that two civilians were riding in a car close to the area when an Israeli tank fired a shell at it.
Palestinian medics said that Ra'ed al-Bayook was killed and his cousin was injured as the shell directly hit their car.
Palestinian security sources said that Palestinian ambulances were not able to reach the car after it was hit as coordination between the Palestinians and the Israeli soldiers was needed.
Meanwhile, Israeli helicopter struck a small bridge that connects southern Gaza City with Nuseirat refugee camp as well as a training camp for Palestinian militants, but no injuries were reported,
Palestinian security sources said.
